On August 27, 1890, one of the world’s most inventive and versatile artists was born: Man Ray. Born in Philadelphia as Emmanuel Radnitzky, Man Ray was a key member of the French Surrealist group along with Marcel Duchamp, Andre Masson, Yves Tanguy and Max Ernst. Man Ray experimented with collage, assemblage and experimental photography and groundbreaking films and is also celebrated as a pioneer of Modernism.
